Hello world
My name is Sunna (“Sun-uh”) and this is my blog. There are 152 million blogs on the internet and a new one is created every half second. But this is mine and now there are 152 million and 1 blogs. No worries, you’re welcome!
Things They Forgot to Mention was created in 2014 when I kept being smacked in the face with all these things that I felt I really should have known by now. I kept having the thought: “Man, they really should’ve mentioned that before.” The sentence got stuck in my head and now here we are on the Internet slopping it all over the place.
This blog covers the things they forgot to mention at the orientation for real life. Some of it I wrote 20 years ago. Some of it I will write after too much coffee/wine and post without proofreading. Actually I’m trying to do more of the latter since I tend to overthink my words. Regardless, it’s a solid professional process.
I write because I have to. If I don’t, I miss the detail and the big picture. It’s kind of like I’m both nearsighted and farsighted until I write and then *blammo* 20/20 y’all. When I write, I can see. Anaïs Nin described it way classier than me: “We write to taste life twice, in the moment and in retrospect.” Yup, what Anaïs said.
The same is true for me with photography. I take photos because they show me things. Often I can’t tell a story without a photo and sometimes the photo is the story. On that note, you can check out my ongoing photo project, The Pecking Orders, where I take a miniature toy chicken all around the world. Obviously.
You can email me at thingstheyforgottomention[at]gmail[dot]com or through the contact form below. I’m also on Instagram and Facebook (@thingstheyforgottomention) for additional stalking opportunities.
